COVID-19 Corner

Keeping up with the Coronavirus

About the COVID-19 Corner

In this time of major  but hopefully temporary — adjustment, we decided to create a one-stop shop to house important updates, information and announcements. We also recognised that a lot of us have already been sending around articles, videos and other resources, so we’ve created a section for these to be displayed here too. If you’ve got something to share, feel free to leave it in the comments below.

    Message from Archbishop Fisher:

“We have just finished a week-long meeting of the Australian Bishops, conducted using Zoom for the first time. We decided that it is a providential time to reconsecrate the country to the care of Our Lady. This will occur on 25 May, the Solemnity of Our Lady Help of Christians, Patroness of Australia”

    Great news!

Places of worship taking part in religious services over the Easter break will be considered “workplaces” under social distancing restrictions.
Places of worship that are broadcasting or streaming services for Easter will be permitted to host extra people, so long as they are abiding by social distancing protocols.
“The same rules that apply to a workplace, to those who are presenting the service, conducting the service, will apply as they do in other places of work,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said.

PLENARY INDULGENCE (blessing of forgiveness for all the sins that we have done in our entire life)

    HERE are the steps:

Do this list today before March 28, 4am, and join the Urbi et Orbi with Pope Francis.

    1. THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgiven those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

    2. Any prayer to our Mother.
    THE MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

    3. Recite the
    ACT OF CONTRITION
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life.

    4. Recite The Creed
    NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,
    consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
    (BOW)
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
    and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
    in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic
    and apostolic Church.
    I confess one baptism
    for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

    5. Pray for the intentions of the Pope.

    6. Pray the
    SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment
    receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
