Volunteering

Volunteering at Lowana is an integral part of formation. Through service opportunities, high school girls and young adults learn to respond to real needs, work alongside others and take responsibility for the good of the community. These experiences foster generosity, resilience and leadership, supporting the formation of thoughtful, grounded young women.

All volunteering activities can be counted towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Local

Lowana girls regularly visit local aged-care homes, offering residents companionship and connection. They also assist with meal preparation for community facilities such as Mamá Llanas.

Lowana Busy Bees is a volunteer program in which girls are trained to provide practical housekeeping support to members of the community who are unable to manage this themselves.

Senior high school girls and young adults may also apply for mentoring roles within Lowana’s Primary and High School Clubs, as well as on summer camps and holiday programs.

Regional

Each summer, university students and young adults travel to Wagga Wagga to work alongside WAFRICA through its Intercultural Program, helping to design and deliver a fun and educational holiday program for local youth.

International

In collaboration with partner study centres, including Eremeran and Creston College, Lowana offers tertiary students and young professionals the opportunity to participate in overseas outreach projects supporting communities in diverse international contexts.
